HealthStream®: Using Capnography during Non-Invasive Ventilation
While capnography has long been recognized as the standard of care in the operating room and ICU, only recently has the utility of this monitoring modality in other acute care areas received increased attention. Capnography is a valuable tool for bedside monitoring of healthcare conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea, respiratory depression, pulmonary embolism, and respiratory decline. In the future, capnography monitoring can be expected to continue growing and evolving within the hospital environment as well as the out-of-hospital setting. This lesson will provide examples of how the use of capnography that can help in the diagnosis of certain patient disease processes as well as several case studies describing different patient situations that may be encountered in practice.
