Covidien in the Community
I. National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) http://www.NACHC.org As our lead partner in the US, the NACHC allows us to efficiently reach over 5,000 sites serving over 16 million people. Community Health Centers reduce the need for emergency room care and have been bringing quality healthcare to people in need for over 40 years. Our goal is to help these centers reach more people, provide increased training to the professionals who work with patients and the community, and provide needed improvements.
II. North American Society for the Study of Obesity (NAASO) http://www.NAASO.org Developing strategies to fight the increasing obesity epidemic is critical. Covidien has partnered with the NAASO to create a certification program in education, prevention and management of obesity as a recognized medical specialty. Additionally, standardization of fact sheets and educational materials that can reach those most affected by obesity is underway.
III. Project HOPE http://www.ProjectHOPE.org Project HOPE is a leading provider of humanitarian relief around the world. As a valued partner, Covidien is contributing funds for the Shanghai Children's Medical Center to provide funding for nurse training, outreach, and support programs in cardiovascular surgical training, critical care medicine, pediatric rehabilitation and more. Covidien was a founding partner of the Shanghai Children's Medical Center in 1997 and we are proud to re-engage with this wonderful hospital.
Mission
Covidien is committed to contributing to the availability of affordable, quality healthcare in the markets in which we compete around the world. Additionally, we will fund local programs that provide care and treatment for specific diseases and address the needs of the communities in which we operate.
This Mission is accomplished through the Covidien Partnership for Neighborhood Wellness, which provides financial resources, employee expertise and healthcare products to communities in need.
Community Impact
Each of our locations promotes the Covidien Partnership for Neighborhood Wellness by providing financial grants and donated products based on program guidelines. Our locations advocate for and support the needs of their local community health centers. Additionally, our employees are encouraged to volunteer their time to organizations important to them.
